Earthenware pots classes
Evidence of earthenware pots production is found since 1500 in the villages of Montelupo and Capraia e Limite, near Tenuta Cantagallo. In order to discover this rich artistic and cultural heritage, you can visit the lab of master earthenware potter Vasco Venturi.
The Venturi family has handed down the art and techniques of clay moulding for three generations. The guided tour lasts for 1 hour and a half and it includes a theoretical part followed by a practical part.
Participants, earthenware lovers and those who are simply intrigued by this art will listen to the explanations of the master potter and they will observe his clever hands using the wheel to transform a clay block into a beautiful artefact. Participants will thus have the chance to see how clay moulding was performed in the past, when most of the work was done manually and master potters used to take the clay from the riverbed, to mould it with their hands, to let it dry in the sun and then to bake it in a wood-burning oven.
When the class is over, participants can visit an exhibition of valuable artefacts (for sale). Then, they will enjoy a good lunch in company at Osteria Cantagallo.
