What can I do in Tuscany? Agriturismo Cantagallo proposes a wide range of activities you can do in the farm and in its surrounding areas.

FOR TREKKING AND NATURE LOVERS

Thanks to its uncontaminated natural landscape, the Tuscan valleys of Montalbano are suitable for pleasant walks and hikes along pedestrian paths and cycle tracks through ancient woods and archaeological sites.

FOR ITALIAN ART LOVERS

Upon request, Agriturismo Cantagallo organizes guided tours with professional art guides in the main art cities of Tuscany.

From our farmhouse you can easily get to Florence, Pisa, Lucca and Siena. Just a few kilometres from Agriturismo Cantagallo, there are the towns of Vinci, the birthplace of Leonardo da Vinci, and Montelupo Fiorentino, with its museum of Italian ceramic art.

FOR HORSEBACK-RIDING LOVERS

Are you looking for an accommodation near a riding school? Tenuta Cantagallo is just a few kilometres away from the riding school Maneggio Pietramarina that organizes upon request horseback rides and treks with professional guides. Participants must have at least basic horseback riding skills. And if you have never tried horseback riding but you would like to learn to do it? The riding school organizes horseback riding lessons for adults and children as well.

FOR FAMILIES WITH CHILDREN

Are you looking for a place to spend your holidays in Tuscany with children? The swimming-pool and the playground of Tenuta Cantagallo are the ideal solution for families with children. And at a few kilometres from our farm there is Bosco Leggenda, the “legendary Forest”, an adventure park with fantasy settings and spacious areas for picnics and barbecues.

FOR TUSCAN WINE AND FOOD LOVERS

Upon request, Agriturismo Cantagallo organizes for its guests and for visiting groups food-and-wine tastings and guided tours to Tuscan wineries, vineyards and olive groves.

During the guided tours, held in Italian, English, French and German, it is possible to taste the products of Tenuta Cantagallo: Chianti Montalbano, Carmignano, Barco Reale di Carmignano, Gioveto and Vinsanto Millarium Riserva as well as our extra-virgin olive oil. Tuscan salami and sliced hams are served with the wines and olive oil.

For those who want to discover the beauty of this terroir and its delicious typical products, we suggest to follow the Montalbano route of wine and oil (Strada del vino e dell’olio del Montalbano), with four different tours in wineries, oil mills and medieval towns in Tuscany.

Earthenware pots classes

Evidence of earthenware pots production is found since 1500 in the villages of Montelupo and Capraia e Limite, near Tenuta Cantagallo. In order to discover this rich artistic and cultural heritage, you can visit the lab of master earthenware potter Vasco Venturi.

The Venturi family has handed down the art and techniques of clay moulding for three generations. The guided tour lasts for 1 hour and a half and it includes a theoretical part followed by a practical part.

Participants, earthenware lovers and those who are simply intrigued by this art will listen to the explanations of the master potter and they will observe his clever hands using the wheel to transform a clay block into a beautiful artefact. Participants will thus have the chance to see how clay moulding was performed in the past, when most of the work was done manually and master potters used to take the clay from the riverbed, to mould it with their hands, to let it dry in the sun and then to bake it in a wood-burning oven.

When the class is over, participants can visit an exhibition of valuable artefacts (for sale). Then, they will enjoy a good lunch in company at Osteria Cantagallo.
